Green Crack marijuana, as the story goes, was named by Snoop Dogg. He came up with the much-maligned name, Green Crack, because he noticed that when people smoked it they wanted to go back for more—no matter how stoned they got. Green Crack can look, smell and taste better than the batch I got from Growers Outlet, grown by Orgrow farms. Hopefully if they keep working with the Green Crack strain they’ll get it more dialed in. With that being said I’d recommend some well-grown Green Crack weed to new stoners looking for somethingg more uplifting and energetic than popular shit like Girl Scout Cookies, Blue Dream, (or Snoop’s Blue Dream for that matter). If you’re a top shelf sensi-snob like I me, you might want to keep looking, there are much better versions of Green Crack weed to be found I’m sure. In fact check out an earlier review of the Platinum Green Crack strain we did a while ago.
Marijuana Strain Name: Green Crack
Review by: Mat Lee
From: Growers Outlet located at 613 Montana Ave #2 South Bend, Washington (360) 875-8189
Harvest Date: 7/8/15
Type: 65 / 35 (Sativa)
Content: THC 19% | CBD .14%
Sample Size: 2 grams
Green Crack Genetics: Skunk #1 X Unknown Indica
There’s also an Indica dominant phenotype of the Green Crack strain, but this one is definitely sativa dominant. The Indica version is said to be descended from some Afghani strain. We also reviewed some Platinum Green Crack strain a little while back. Maybe we’ll do Green Crack Kush next? You know to sample all the Green Crack strains.
Green Crack Review
Appearance and Feel: To be honest, this bud doesn’t look all that great. But most sativa dominant phenotypes don’t. That’s probably why a lot of recreational shops carry heavily on the Indica side, and not so much on the sativa side.
It also has something to do with the yield. Farms don’t want to use up their grow space with strains that aren’t going to yield well.
Then again, I’ve also read that the Indica vs sativa has nothing to do with the buzz, but more depends on the expectation of the smoker and the pretext of the flower they are smoking before you smoke.
If someone tells you some amazing stuff about the bud before you see it, or as you are looking at it in a shop, you are going to have that in the back of your mind, and whether you know it or not, it will have a bearing on your overall experience. Don’t believe me? Grab some Cherry Pie or Island Sweet Skunk. Do some blind taste tests with your friends. You’ll see.
Smell: There’s really not much for smell here out of the bag. When you crack the buds open, there is a slight smell of something sweet and earthy with subtle pine highlights. One of the buds in the two gram bag I got almost had a coffee like smell to it. Not sure what that was about.
Flavor: This Green Crack weed tastes fairly leafy, almost like grass with a tiny hint of sweet citrus in the exhale. Really not much as far as flavor. Where did all the terpenes go? Perhaps a side effect of using bags instead of jars for packaging?
Perhaps it wasn’t cured, or maybe this is just a weak smelling and tasting phenotype. Granted not everyone smokes weed for the taste. A lot of people smoke it to get high, or so I hear.
But when you get to a certain point in your stoner career, you don’t really get “stoned” anymore, you just keep a nice haze of tolerance and relaxation around you all day long. Also when I say tolerance, I mean of other people and all the shitty things life throws at you. Not like weed tolerance. Although I’m sure the two go hand in hand.
High: Speaking of the high, it seems I’ve finally found something this bud excels at. Green Crack weed is some uplifting, happy, stoney bud, which is what saved it’s score, at least for me personally. Bong hits are a wave of soothing comforting coolness. It’s slightly more relaxing than I would expect from something called Green Crack, but apparently that was Snoop Dogg’s doing. The story goes he named it Green Crack because it kept making people want to go back for more, no matter how high they got.
Overall: Like I mentioned above, I know Green Crack can look, smell, and taste better than the batch I got. Hopefully if Orgrow keeps working with this strain, they will get it more dialed in. I would recommend this to the new stoner who is looking for something more uplifting and energetic. If you are a top shelf sensi-snob like I am, you might want to keep looking, there are much better versions of Green Crack weed to be found I’m sure.
