VIDEO OF THE DAY: GWAR-Carry On Wayward Son

gwar covers kansas on aol music 3Today’s STONER Video of the Day is GWAR-Carry On Wayward Son. According to Gwar’s Oderus Urungus, the 43-billion-year-old product of a supercomputer and a petri dish from a planet called Scumdogia in “Syntho Womb 5”, the band Kansas was a “big part of music where bands were often named after geographic locations. And let’s hope that that never happens again…because quite frankly those bands suck,” says the singer.

AOL Music’s been doing these A.V. Club Undercover session things where they get a bunch of hipster indie bands to cover a bunch of shitty ol’ songs in a tiny, cramped, round room for some reason. And, for their final session, they ditched the hipsters and invited the Scumdogs of the Universe, GWAR who drop this heavy-ass cover of the 1976 smash hit that still plagues rock radio stations to this day.

AOL boasts, “We were delighted that GWAR would not only grace us with their presence, but also choose the little round room as the public debut of new lead guitarist Pustulus Maximus. We are quite sure you’ll enjoy this, and perhaps stop accusing us of only allowing puny indie bands into our office.”

Anyhow, this video is kinda rockin’. We’re not big on GWAR or anything, but we’ve been fans ever since Oderus called out Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine for being a homophobe and backing the marijuana-hating, homophobe Rick Santorum.

“Dave Mustaine, every time he opens his mouth, he makes a fucking idiot out of himself. You know what? Keep your fucking mouth shut, Dave Mustaine. Play your fucking guitar, alright, maybe keep it to the lyrics to “Peace Sells”… Everything else… We don’t wanna fucking hear about how Obama was born in Africa and how Rick Santorum is your man — he hates fucking heavy metal. Shut the fuck up, Dave Mustaine. SHUT THE FUCK UP,” says Oderus.

If you dig GWAR and feel the need to get all covered in fake blood and guts and shit…they might be coming to a town near you.
