Florida to Legalize Medical WEED

Self-proclaimed “decriminalization advocate” Jeff Clemens (D) of Florida just proposed an amendment to Florida’s constitution that would legalize weed for medical use! Clemens, after noticing all the pharmaceutical abuse in his state, says “there’s no sense in letting people use artificial drugs like oxycodone or methadone while banning a medicine that is safer and natural.”

Clemens also went on to say that legalizing herb could be a “great financial benefit to the state of Florida as a whole, bring in anywhere from $5 million to $12 million.”

According to his legislation, cannabis would only be legal if prescribed to patients with debilitating conditions, much like how pain pills are freely prescribed by unscrupulous doctors in his state. Although Clemens says pain pill abuse kills up to six people a day in Florida, he correctly states “medical marijuana has never killed anyone.” He also says that many recent laws passed to “curb pill mills would also make sure that medical marijuana was not abused.”

“We have a lot of people suffering here in the state of Florida, and I don’t think we need to be telling them that prescription narcotics are the way to go when we have other more natural avenues for them,” Clemens said.

Anyhow, according to a new poll conducted by a Republicrat…er uhm a Republican firm called Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates, which asked point blank: “If there was a Constitutional Amendment on the statewide ballot to legalize the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes only when prescribed by a practicing physician and the election were held today, would you vote YES to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes or NO to stop it?” 57 percent of Floridians said YES!

With a recent ABC News Poll showing that all across this great nation 81 percent of voters support medical weed and with 57 percent of Floridians saying they’d legalize medi-pot RIGHT NOW…how can legalizing medical marijuana in Florida not make it to the 2012 ballot? Oh that’s right…both the Florida House and Senate are controlled by the Republican Party. We’ll keep ya posted.

you simply cannot overdose by smoking medical marijuana unlike pain pills, unless you smoke almost your body weight. it could also help cure insomnia.

We have Less than 60 Days! Call, Write, Visit your Representatives!! Call Dean Cannon’s Office tell him – “Put HJR 1407 Before a Committee”

The bill goes dead if he does nothing.. Make him do something!

Don’t worry, it’ll only be a machine or secretary taking down the message.. They won’t ask you any questions.. So Please Do This!!
    Dean Cannon’s Office – 850-488-1450

Make sure your local representatives Co-Sponsor this bill!!

Here in Florida 7 people die every single day from prescription drugs, our patients, like my Papa, need to be able to listen to their doctors without breaking the law. Tell your representatives to support HJR 1407 and give patients safe access to a safer medication.

We waste far too much money arresting and imprisoning people like John Haring, a Quadriplegic in Tampa that was arrested for his medicinal use of marijuana, or Jason Furman who has leukemia and went from 30 pills a day to 3 a day when he smoked cannabis, but since his arrest for less than 1 Gram he has had to return to 30 pills a day, or Cathy Jordan who has lived for 25 years with ALS thanks to cannabis, her disease is a disease that gives you 1-5 years left to live, and shes lived 25 years amazing all her doctors and the ALS society because of her cannabis use.

Please use compassion and help patients get safe access to a cheaper, safer, more effective medication.

I suffer from severe major depression and marijuana has literaly brought me away from suicidal ideation. It has saved my life! I am presently on probation for possession {4 grams} I am not allowed to partake of this very important medicine. I have been given a severe probation which is costing me tons of cash and has me having to do much more than a man who nearly strangled me to death 3 years ago and got only probation with out all the classes and community service and random drug screens. This has caused my depression to reach lows that I have no escape from! Please help get marijuana legal in Florida as it is in other states.

Ok, I made the call to Dean Cannons office, someone picked up the phone, and I made the request for Dean Cannon to support leagal marijuana, I have my own reasons for marijuana, I have HIV for 25 years now, half my lifetime, I have been doing ok all these years, seems now as time goes on with all the meds I take day after day, my body is getting worn out, then, about a month ago, I took one puff of the pot, thats all, one puff, would you know it, I felt pretty darn good, my legs were not weak, for the first time in years I felt good, so I am sure if I could get perhaps three puffs a day, it might do the trick and who knows, I will make it in life for another 25 years with HIV, and feel good living with it, thank you

Why do we continue to allow fools to keep Marijuana illegal??????

  14. Renee

but the question I see no answer to is WHERE will the patients obtain the marijuana? Are they going to have to hide in a corner buying from some dealer? Or will the state of Florida have permits for growers and will Florida allow the licensing of dispensaries? Without provisions in place for growers and dispensaries I see no way that this helps patients.

don’t compare pot with pain killers you idiots, did you forget alcohol kills people who don’t even use it?stop getting so baked and maybe you could help get it legalized

Look…lets all be honest… legalizing marijuana would be all around great for FL. It would bring in a ton of money for the government, provide a more friendly environment, and would keep a lot of good people out of trouble. I’m voting YES on the next ballot!… and who ever is reading this should too.

i believe pot should be legal . alot of people have problems about why pot should not be legal.. but we all need to see the truth about pot.. for an example pot has never killed any one. also it helps people that have hardcore depression. and it is a fact that it helps people that have glocoma like myself .. i have glocoma in both eyes i use eyedrops every day to help relieve the pressure that may cause me to go absolutely blind . if i were to have medical pot i believe this would help to relieve the pressure even more.. or just legalise pot . what is all this fuss about ?? really perhaps smoking a cigarette will help my chances of the pressure that is building up in my eyes.. people need to see the green side of this seriously maby ill have a better chance with a blind date and drink some beer that will only kill me in the end XD i am 26 years old and FL needs to legalise pot it should not be up to the gov to tell people how to eat smoke drink ect.. my thoughts on this people lets legalise pot . the end

Iam tired of loosing child hood friends to pill milled drugs. Yes people in severe pain need Those to get better. But medical marijuana replaces all the devistating drugs, in it’s use it helps in the aray portrayed in all these testimonies I read here on this page. These are just a couple of examples compared to the millions that are truly out there. Nicotine- the widestly accepted social stimulant that is very legal, but yet they are engineered to hook younger and younger children. I am dumb founded that a struggling government will not legalize. Revenues from every state would help pay for “the mans” debt. You all know who, NEW JOBS would be available to millions, collectively threw every state obviously. Probly more because all that the medical Plant offers, we could make clothes, furniture, build houses, make skin products, probly find a cure for balding. The hemp plant could drastically turn a top heave country(U.S.A) around. We could climb back to the top. Leaders again in a new world, the right world, a thriving economy, it is stubborn, selfish, greedy, and around wrong to ignore these clearly well researched facts, IT IS TIME TO GROW UP AMERICA

I have been smoking recreationally for about two years. When I go without smoking I have problems sleeping and no appitite. I am very jittery and cant sit still without smoking. I doubt these are technical medical problems. I was diagnosed with adhd when I was 8 and the medicine they gave me wouldnt allow me to have energy to even go outside and play with neighborhood kids. My aunt took me off the medicine and i have long term effects from it. When i stop smoking weed I have no physical withdraws like feeling sick sweating or any kind of detox. it also helps with my back problems and frequent headaches. I dont take pain pills anxiety pills or anything like that I just smoke. Im not addicted, I dont act stupid. Legalize it. Before I get arrested wit it =/

LOL Ya right. Florida is the new teabagger state. They are more concerned with taking rights away rather then giving new ones. It’s mid 2012 now, this article was early 2011. Florida still has no legislation on the books or on hold for any legalization of marijuana at any level.

I am 64years old. I was in a very serious car accident. I had to learn to walk an speak properly again it took 5years.i had high blood pressure since inam30 an it was under control with 2pills daily. After my accident they could not control my blood pressure. I was in the trama center every other week. I had a stroke.after going for many brain tests they found i severe brain trama an a lot of bulging discs an herniated discs. They also found my left side had permanent nerve damage. They came to the conclusion my pain was so severe that only heavy nacodics would control my blood pressure. I took 50 mg. of Demario for 7 years . When they told me to leave work I was devastated. I am on Sadi permantly disabled.when I moved to Florida they found out the damarayl destroyed my kidneys. They switched to 30mg. Of moraphine an 10mg. Of Valium. I found out I have 60&percent of my kidney function left. I am on a special diet because if I loose 10&more I will be on dialis. After that the next step is death. If I could have taking medical majiuna I would not have these problems. If the bill passes I will vomit myself to a rehab. An clean out my system an then try medical majiuna. It might be to late for me.i will try I would like to live semi normal. A lot of people could not be in my place if they did not take these narcotics. I know the drug co. Control the billon dollar industry an not worried about me. Please vote yes so people do not have to suffer like me in pain all the time an can live a long life. Do not let the drug dealers make all the money. Let the governance control it. Please look at facts an research before you vote do not be narrow mined an ignorant to the truth. You will not stop it you will force people to buy it illegally.before I retired I worked for dept. of corrections. We had 6000inmates about one third were there on minus drug cases. You are talking about 1500 which cost the state 40000 dollars a inmate. I would rather see that money in our system.people open your eyes up. Rich.2392133343
