High CBD Strains Won’t Get You High

CBDHigh CBD Strains Won’t Get You High

For decades growers have tried to create marijuana plants that deliver the most psychoactive, the most mind-blowing weed possible creating strains rich in THC. Now they’re breeding flowers with high levels of CBD or Cannabidiol that won’t even get users high. So it seems a li’l odd to be going the opposite direction doesn’t it? Newsflash haters, not everyone who smokes weed is looking to get stoned. They’re looking for wellness and that’s exactly where high CBD strains of marijuana come in.

When it comes to medical applications of the marijuana plant it’s not the THC most patients and doctors are after, but rather CBD. That’s because it doesn’t lead to the euphoric feelings commonly associated with cannabis. CBD makes up nearly half the plant, about 40 percent. It also has no psychoactive effect and has been shown to not only help relieve convulsion, inflammation, anxiety, and nausea, but also inhibit cancer cell growth! One more time: inhibit cancer cell growth! That’s huge.

CBD vs THC

When it comes to THC v CBD it’s the THC or that gets people high. But, there are many other chemicals contained within the herb that have a myriad of beneficial and healing effects on the body. Sure CBD and THC are the most abundant cannabinoids that occur naturally in cannabis. However pot grown for recreational use typically contains more THC vs CBD. But because of the soaring popularity of high CBD strains and things like CBD vape oil, or a CBD tincture for medial use, breeders have been fast at work creating strains with high Cannabidiol levels and virtually no THC at all. Some of these strains include:

  • Charlotte’s Web
  • AC/DC
  • Harlequin
  • Sour Tsunami
  • Cannatonic

You know how pot can make some people sleepy? Studies suggest Cannabidiol acts to promote wakefulness. This could explain why some marijuana strains boost energy while others feel like they zap it. Numerous studies also suggest that CBD acts to reduce the intoxicating effects of THC, such as memory impairment and paranoia. Many other studies suggest it can effectively treat a wide range of conditions from arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, MS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, PTSD, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy and other neurological disorders. Cannabidiol has also demonstrated neuroprotective and neurogenic effects as well. And it has anti-cancer properties too—which are under investigation in the United States abroad.

High CBD Strains. High Expectations.

Back in November 2007, researchers at the California Pacific Medical Center reported that CBD shows promise for controlling the spread of metastatic breast cancer. In essence CBD represents the first non-toxic external medicine that can inhibit cancer cell growth. Additionally, many promising studies have shown that CDB could be effective in easing symptoms of a wide range of tough-to-control conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, PTSD, epilepsy, atibiotic-resistant infections, neurological disorders and even alcoholism. That’s right…there’s a marijuana strain out there that scientist think will help people end battles their struggle alcoholism.

Oh, and CBD alone is completely NON-INTOXICATING. It doesn’t matter if that CBD is extracted from a marijuana plant or hemp. CBD is CBD no matter what. The fact that it won’t get users stoned or high is why CBD has been nearly bred out of current strains of marijuana. But, that’s all about to change.

“Ultimately, there will be greater demand for CBD-rich cannabis, than there is for cannabis that just gets you high,” says Steve DeAngelo, Executive Director of the Harborside Health Center and Discovery Channel’s Weed Wars Star “Only a small percentage of people enjoy the psycho activity of cannabis, but almost everybody can benefit from its medical properties”.
