Hydrology9 Liquid Filtration Vaporizer Review

Every now and again we get a cool product to review that takes care of a problem we didn’t even know we had. That’s not to say that vaping through a dry vaporizer like a Vapium Summit+ or a Firefly 2 isn’t a fantastic experience, and a more healthy alternative to lighting weed on fire, but sometimes people are super sensitive to things that can be in the plant material. I mean if you are health conscious, the less carcinogens you can inhale the better.

I know a lot of individuals who rely on edibles because even the gentle warming heat of a vaporizer is too harsh for them. So how do you make a vaporizer even better? You just add water.

Well you add a lot more than that. First you gotta have a beefy battery. The Cloudious9 Hydrology9 has a 2000mAh cell phone grade lithium polymer battery. On a full charge you can get a good 10 to 15 sessions out of it. That of course depends on which temperature setting you have it on. There’s five to choose from. They also have a smart chip that will detect when the temperature is lower than the setting, and adjust accordingly. Aesop was right, the future is amazing, my mind is fucking blown.

If you enjoyed the review video, make sure to check out the extended Dabrector’s Cut version located here on the Hot Box YouTube page. There’s an extra 6 minutes of outtake style footage. Also make sure to check out the first look over on the Hot Box.

cloudious9 hydrology9 Liquid Filtration VaporizerCloudious9 has a patent pending on a couple of pieces of technology in the Hydrology9. First is the Tunnel Tube. This is the core of what makes the Hydrology9 stand out from the rest. This is the mechanism that allows users of the device to get cleaner, cooler vape rips. It also has trippy LED’s on it which light up all glowy when you use it. Definitely not a device you want if you are looking to vape your flower on the down low. But if you don’t care who sees you lighting up so to speak, and you want that extra layer of water filtration in your vape rips, this is definitely a good choice to consider.

The second patent pending piece of technology is something I’ve been wanting a company to incorporate into one of these flower vapes for a long time. They have created a built in stirring mechanism. Brilliant right? I wish every flower vape had something like this built into it. There’s nothing more annoying than having to stir a bowl of half ass vaped weed. With the Hydrology9 you vape the whole bowl in one sesh, if you are stony enough.

I should mention that out of all the flower vapes I’ve reviewed, the Vapium Summit+ is so far the only one to include a stir stick of some sort into the design of the vape chassis. That being said, you still have to remove it like you would a cell phone stylus, then uncap the bowl and physically stir the material. I really like how the Hydrology9 has this inconvenience solved, creating a much better vape experience.

I also have a nice sample of what the post vaped material looks like. While I was getting the temperatures all figured out, I can definitely say that the hottest setting might be a bit too hot. That being said, you have water to cool down and filter the hit, so if you really want to make sure you are getting as much out of the flower as you can without actually lighting it on fire, the Hydrology9 does a fantastic job.

I did the first time I tried to use it, and unless you are super careful to make sure the seals are nice and tight, when you fill it up and rotate it, you’ll start to notice some water leaking down the sides. Not a big deal, as the circuitry is designed with this in mind. It’s just something to take note of. Once you get water in it and make sure it’s not leaking, the device works really well.

The portability form factor of the Hydrology9 definitely leaves much to be desired. Then again, if you are looking for a device that lives on your desk and looks damn good doing it, this is one to consider. Usually when I get these devices to review, they are made with mobility and portability in mind. That makes me assume that all of them are meant to be portable, and as a reviewer, I should know better than to make those assumptions. I do however, want people to be as informed as possible when buying these things.

cloudious9 hydrology9 Liquid Filtration VaporizerIt would be cool to see a more portable version, and it would also be cool to see some sort of self contained cartridge, that you could fill with water, then insert. That way you wouldn’t worry about having shaky hands and pouring water all over the device. I have no idea if that’s possible or how you would do it. I’m simply the idea guy. If you figure it out, you can send that check my way. It would also be nice to have some sort of stable stand for the Hydrology9 to sit on. It’s pretty well balanced, but I feel like the second someone bumps a table the Hydrology9 could go down for the count.

I was a bit curious to see how the Hydrology9 hit dry, so after filming some review footage, I emptied the water, packed a fresh bowl, and let her rip. I honestly couldn’t tell much of a difference as far as vapor it produces or temperature of the hit, but I’m sure those more sensitive to that sort of thing than I will notice, and appreciate the fact that you can use water to cool the hits down.

cloudious9 hydrology9 Liquid Filtration VaporizerOverall, if you are looking for a modern looking vape that offers water filtration and cool disco rave lights, this is the device for you. It’s not out yet, but if you go to the Cloudious9 website, you can sign up with your email address and you’ll be notified when they are available.
