Marijuana Hairs Turning Brown Too Early

marijuana with brown hairQuestion: Is it normal for hairs to be turning brown during the early pre-flowering stages?

Jay Kitchen and Uncle Tweezy: Not usually, but in certain strains you might see a couple of amber or brown hairs and stuff like that, but you shouldn’t see too many. Sometimes you might see one—but that generally depends on what type of strain you’ve got growing and how or what you’re feeding it. It could also depend on the types of lights you have and other things like that.

You shouldn’t be worried too much unless you have too many brown hairs. If that’s the case then you may have some disease or pests. But to see an amber or a brown hair here or there in the early flowering stage happens.

Sometimes brown hairs are a telltale sign of what strain you’re growing. The color of calyxes and stuff like that might go from that color brown, to an amber, to a burnt rust, or even a deep red—almost maroon shade. Don’t stress unless you’ve got a lot of brown hair and then investigate further. But it sounds like you’re all right, man.
