There are, or I should say were, many Marinol uses. In the late 80’s and 90’s, if you were one of the lucky (or not so lucky) ones to need something like cannabis to help you eat or to chill out your nausea during cancer chemo sessions or just in your day to day life, you weren’t completely shit out of luck.

Big Pharma was there with open arms and pocketbooks to skirt the whole cannabis has zero medical efficacy nonsense and start producing Marinol. Fast forward to 1992, and the FDA opens up the approved list of uses to include people who had AIDS and suffered from weight loss. How nice of the FDA. Ever since then humans have had access to Marinol medication by way of getting a Marinol prescription from their doctor. The effects aren’t anything like smoking or ingesting actual cannabis flower or full spectrum cannabis extracts.

The Marinol dosage can vary depending on your tolerance to THC, your size and weight, and of course, brain chemistry. If you are taking Marinol and are unsure of the dosage, definitely get a hold of your doctor. Doctors here we are not.

Marinol side effects

Just like with any medication, or any drug for that matter, there can possibly be side effects of Marinol. Marinol comes along with some side effects, depending on how well you are adjusted to THC and sesame seed oil. I took the liberty of compiling a list from all the sites that listed Marinol side effects. An individual taking Marinol may or may not experience the following side effects:

• Irritability
• Trouble sleeping
• Restlessness
• Hot flashes
• Sweating
• Runny nose
• Diarrhea
• Hiccups
• Loss of appetite
• Clumsiness or unsteadiness
• False sense of well-being
• Feeling like you are outside your body
• Trouble with thinking
• Burning, dry or itching eyes
• Ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
• Cough
• Discharge, excessive tearing
• Weakness
• Elevated mood
• Feeling “high”
• Sudden feeling of warmth
• Stomach pain
• Nausea or vomiting
• Memory loss
• Anxiety
• Confusion
• Dizziness
• Lack of balance
• Hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist)
• Sleepiness
• Strange or unusual thoughts

Marinol more isn’t merrier

That’s quite the list. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that many side effects in my whole life. I’m sure the same could be said for just smoking some weed, although I feel like much less of the population, when coached and educated properly on cannabis, won’t experience probably more than half of these side effects.

You could call them thc pills side effects, but something about this list seems a little extreme for some cannabinoids and sesame seed oil. I don’t know, maybe people don’t handle their sesame seed oil well? Perhaps the people they studied when this list was first created already had some of these pre existing conditions.

It’s hard to tell. But what I do know is this. I’ve never felt any of those negative side effects, and the whole feeling like you are outside your body is awesome. That sort of shit should be embraced not feared. That’s not a side effect, it should be a goal. For some people, they will feel sleepy, for others, they will feel sleeplessness. As I’ve said before, it all comes down to the person, their endocannabinoid system, and the set and setting.

Does Marinol get you high?

So does Marinol get you high?It can. Assuming the THC that’s in there is actually THC and not THCA, and that you have enough liver left to metabolize that into 11-OH-THC and then into 11-nor-9-carboxy-THC. Then I believe yes, depending on your tolerance and how much Marinol you take, it can get you high. I would definitely recommend eating some other form of cannabis though, or even just sit down and smoke a joint if your lungs can handle it.

Marinol, in my opinion, is too pharmaceutical, if that makes sense. For cannabis to work, so far the research says that we need more than just one isolated cannabinoid to reap the full benefits of this amazing plant.

Sure having access to it is important, but we need to look at the big picture. If you really want to start seeing some positive results, more of this whole plant and full spectrum extract science needs to be researched. Not just in the marketing and branding nonsense that calls everything full spectrum, but in the actual scientific way that you have everything the plant can offer concentrated down into one easy dab or pill that you swallow. So far I haven’t seen big pharma come up with anything close to the kind of shit we’re smoking. In as much as real weed is all stuff stoners like, Marinol is not so much.
