Apparently Clint Eastwood’s daughter set one of these things on fire a few years ago. No not to smoke it just to be an asshole and get some attention for her dad’s wife’s lame reality show. However, Complex reports that “Hermès has become the standard for luxury when it comes to designer handbags, and counts Victoria Beckham and the Kardashians as some of its best customers. One of the most popular Hermès styles, the Birkin—named after actress Jane Birkin—is one of the bags which are affected. Certain versions of the Kelly bag and the Elan clutch are also said to be giving off the strange odor.”
Nobody from Hermès has yet to respond to a request for comment from Page Six, however the paper does quote a member of the PurseBlog Hermès forum’s 152-page “Odd Leather Smell” thread, who describes her experience with a skunky purse:
“After riding in the car with her for about 30 minutes, I smelled what I thought was a dead skunk. Another 30 minutes later I could still smell the dead skunk, and I thought it was odd, but never imagined it could be my bag,” said some chick on PurseBlog. “I keep (it) in an armoire . . . When I opened the cabinet door this morning, the smell hit me, and I immediately knew it was the bag.”
The bags are being sent back to Paris, a Page Six says a source claims, “as nobody knows quite how to deal with this embarrassing situation.” Know what’d be even more embarrassing? If drug-sniffing dogs mistake a $20,000 purse for a bag of weed.
If you had an extra $20,000 and had to spend it would you buy a purse or $20K worth of WEED?
