As of today, Arizona residents can apply for medical marijuana online. How cool is that? The Arizona Medical Marijuana Initiative, Proposition 203, was approved by voters back on November 2, 2010, making Arizona the 15th state to legalize the use of medical herb and the 1st to allow people to sign up for it online.
Patients are allowed to buy 2 1/2 ounces of marijuana every two weeks or grow a limited amount of weed themselves if they live 25 miles from a dispensary. One interesting point to note ’bout Prop 203 is it’s protection for employees. The prop specifies that employers are not allowed to discriminate against hiring patients who smoke weed and they can’t fire ’em just for being a patient either. But, the measure says nothing about getting stoned at work.
The Arizona Department of Health Services, the folks in charge of regulating the sale and use of weed, are also running the website that has began accepting medical marijuana patient’s applications today. And, they’re gearing up to take dispensary application from June 1st through June 30th. So if you live in Arizona check out the FAQ page if you need clarification on how to qualify as a patient or caregiver or if you need info on cultivation or how to find a weed-friendly physician. Oh and also check out ADHS’s Director on Youtube explaining all the deets too.
Anyhow, if you live in Arizona, congratulations and let us know how the shitstem er, uhm…we mean system works for ya?
