“It requires them to get a license from the Illinois Dept. of Public health, which would monitor and license each person, and it provides strict penalties for those who break the law, or use the marijuana and drive, or try to sell it or distribute it,” Lang said.
Lang said studies have shown repeatedly that marijuana is not addictive and that someone cannot overdose using it. He also said “Medical marijuana makes a lot more sense in the treatment of chronic pain than Oxycontin or Vicodin, both of which are addictive and can kill.”
So far the bill has gained the approval of the Illinois Senate and won approval in the Illinois House Human Services Committee and in the Rules Committee. And, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) has promised a vote.

I am ratd at 100% disabled by the V.A. and social security. I take #10 /325 vicodin every 6 hrs and also 2mg of xanax every 8 hrs for ptsd and my nerves.
I haven't smoked marijuana for a very long time . I don't want to break the law and the price of street marijuana is too expensive. It's time that people like me w/legitimate problems be given the chance to give up the other legal pain pills which we take and be allowed to smoke marijuana
It could end up being a lot more helpful in the event we find links returned out of moderately related PR pages rather in comparison with highly relevant dull bar type involving pages.
I take about 20 prescription pills per day for parkinsons disease, with severe joint and muscle pain. I have tried many pain killers to help with these symptoms, and they Don't work and make me sick and very nauseous. I would really like to see Illinois pass the Medical Marijuana bill in 2012. It would benefit so many dealing with different diseases and pain.
