Northern Lights Strain First Look

Appearance: Excellent cone shaped buds, the iconic picture in your mind of good weed. The Northern Lights Amsterdam strain is dense and sticky, with a beautiful frost coverage dispersed throughout. Pine cone shaped, with some looking more like the idealistic christmas tree, complete with trichome snow.

Northern Light Strain Aroma

Smell: As soon as you tear the package open, the pine scent from this Northern Lights strain just fills the room. Followed by an earthy hint of something almost sweet. Can something smell skunky and kushy at the same time? There’s a definite sweet evergreen aroma when you break the buds open, but when you put it through the grinder, all you smell is that skunky piney goodness. Yum!

Northern Lights Marijuana Strain Taste

Flavor: A great tasting Northern Lights. Personally, I like this one a lot more than the other phenotypes. The smoke is full and skunky with a sweet hint of spice that gives it a seductive silhouette of salivating flavor.

This NL has a creamy full smoke that makes the nose tingle a tad on the exhale. French inhale this stuff for a vividly eye watering experience. It definitely has that great NL flavor stoners like.

Northern Light Strain

High: A definite heady high with a nice cerebral feeling to it. This one also felt like it had a little creeper stoney come up to it. That might be due to the high THC content in this NL. I have a hard time believing any strain can have much more than 25% unless you are adding up all the other cannabinoids in there, but this Amsterdam NL demonstrates an exceptional trichome layer to it, so you never know. I checked the actual tests Two Heads Co. received from Integrity Labs, and they definitely aren’t adding up cannabinoids, so maybe Two Heads Co. has this Northern Lights completely dialed in. Either way, it’s definitely stuff stoners like.

I mean I could get it tested, but then I wouldn’t be able to smoke the rest, and right now, it’s time to blaze one. I would imagine if I had this tested, it would show up right around 20% THC, which would only show that two different labs had two different samples and got two different results. Who’s right? Who knows.

Northern Lights Strain Genetics Final Thoughts

Overall: The Amsterdam Northern Lights grown by Two Heads Co. and found at Growers Outlet is a great version of a most excellent classic strain. It’s said that besides the G13, the NL is one of the most widely recognized by name strain out there. The NL has it’s roots in ancient landrace genes on the Afghani side of the planet.

There’s a great story on Seedsman.com about the origins of Northern Lights, if you have time to read it. Very resilient stuff if you are growing it, and exceptionally good smoke if you are using it as a tool to get lifted. Always stuff stoners like. Especially when grown well, as this one is.
