There’s a ton of lore about this strain and all the different cuts. I find this sort of thing interesting, so I like to include it in the reviews if I can find it. Some say Bubba came from OG Kush crossed with West Coast Dog and Old World Kush. All of which are strong indicas. There’s also a bunch of different strains going around using the Bubba Kush name. They’re Bubblegum and Kush strains crosses—a little different than what we’re talking about here.
Appearance: You know this Bubba looks great. Great dark green over the top of some lighter green shades. The gram I picked up was a little on the stemmy side, but that’s how life goes sometimes. I should probably start reviewing two gram packages and up. It’s so hard to get a bead on how good a strain is with only a gram to work with. It’s easier to just show you pictures of what this herb looks like, rather than try to use my words and describe it to you. A picture is worth a thousand words they say, which makes these weed reviews high like birds the word.
Smell: Nothing super special in the smell department. Just your normal kushy earthy aroma. Smells like some good weed. I’ve probably become a little bit of a snob, and my earlier self is slapping the shit out of my later self at what this job has turned me into, but it is what it is.
Flavor: Nothing super special, just tastes like your normal every day good ass weed. I’ve said this before, but I’m not really a huge fan of Kush strains. They are good as far as buzz and everything goes, but for smell and taste, you can do much better in my humble weed reviewing opinion.
High: I’m getting a nice head change and a little focus. Not really tunnel vision, but I feel like after a few bong rips I could get down to business with whatever I needed to do that particular day. Since today is my day off, it’s filled with smoking weed, taking pictures, and writing reviews. All of which Bubba and I have no problem getting done together. Of course, your results may very well vary.
This is the first bong rip of the day for me, which is why I’m feeling it so much. That and the fact that it’s one of those almost 20% strains that the noob can enjoy with their daily smoker friends. Maybe hit the pipe every other time it comes around, unless you want to experience what couch lock is all about.
Being heavy on the indica side of the tracks, this Bubba Kush strain definitely has that potential. Just remember, you control the high, the high doesn’t control you. I mean it’s your brain right?
Overall: Not my first choice as far as what I would smoke on the daily, but again, that’s just my kush disposition. If you are a fan of Bubba Kush, or if you like kush strains, the Phat Panda version is definitely one of the better ones I’ve seen.
I did review a pre 98 Bubba here if you want to check it out and compare my notes. I’m looking to try some Platinum Bubba Kush or some Bubba OG (OG Bubba Kush) for the sake of comparison. I would say these two are pretty much on par with each other. High Times also has an interesting article about the birth of Bubba Kush here if you are interested in reading more.
