You’ll need a few things, on top of the decarboxylated plant material you’ll be using. Basically this turns THCA, which is non psychoactive, into THC, which is. It’s much more complicated than that, but for the sake of this canna oil piece, that’s all you need to know. If you aren’t feeling the effects from your coconut oil cannabis, you might need to decarboxylate your starting material longer.

It also might be easier to start with something you know the potency of. Let’s say distillate for example. Raw distillate is always a good starting input for edibles, especially when you are going to be mixing it into coconut oil or butter. If you know the potency of your distillate, you can more easily dose your edibles. Plus the distillate is fully decarboxylated, so you don’t have to worry about messing with baking weed in your oven.

If you are using plant material, put it in the oven set to 240F for about an hour. This will always vary depending on altitude, and of course moisture content of the material, and what sort of starting material you use. I’m talking about plant material here. Trim and such. Also think about the rest of your cannabis coconut oil recipe. Does it call for more heat? Because if it does, you might not want to fully decarb at the first step, rather get it most of the way there, and then let it decarb the rest of the way when the coconut oil is added.
