From: Growers Outlet located at 613 Montana Ave #2 South Bend, Washington 360-875-8189
Farm: Top Shelf
Harvest Date: 9/21/15
Type: Indica dominant
Content: THC 24.34% | CBD .13% | CBG .52%
Sample Size: 3.5 grams
Genetics: Lemon Skunk X OG #18
Appearance and Feel: Very sticky, almost spiky in the way it feels and looks. Fairly dense with a lot of lovely trichome coverage. The pistils are a nice burnt orange color, over the lighter green calyx. Speaking of calyx, the Lemon OG has a great calyx to leaf ratio, and this particular batch was trimmed well.
Smell: Subtle out of the jar with stiff peppery notes, and a slight pungent pine aroma. Definitely not a whole lot of lemon smell to it. This Lemon OG has a scent that screams kush. It’s borderline sweet, mostly earthy with a skunky pungent scent. Quite interesting weed.
Flavor: The spicy aroma sticks around on the inhale with a pungent woody aftertaste on the exhale. My non pot smoking friend that was in town visiting from Florida said it had a peppery dishwasher soap taste. Some pallets are more refined than others. The peppery taste goes nicely in a joint or a spliff, as it completely accentuated the tobacco flavors.
High: Nice and heady, not at all planting my dick in the dirt like I would have expected from an indica dominant strain that presents with 24% THC in it’s analysis. My noob smoking friend seemed to be coping with it well. He said he felt a little drunk, but I suspect he was sneaking beers behind my back.
We were taking hits from the spiky pipe I got at Barter Faire. Out of a glass pipe the Lemon OG offers a subtle buzz if you take it slow, but if you smoke a whole bowl or joint to your head, it will definitely make you feel it.
Overall: Personally not being a huge fan of the kush strains, I wasn’t super impressed with the Lemon OG. As far as being stuff stoners like, it’s definitely that. For me personally, I’ll continue on my journey looking for that perfect ten.
Of course, that won’t happen until I’ve reviewed ALL the weed. We’re getting there, but not quite yet. The Lemon OG gets a high six from me. Just because you have a high THC content on the label, doesn’t make your weed top shelf.
There’s so much more that goes into a strain being considered that bomb shit, and the more people sell and buy in the recreational market based solely on THC content, the more we’re straying from truly attaining that good weed high so many of us search for.
