One of our viewers e-mailed us asking “how long does it take to grow weed?” This is a question we’ve been asked hundreds of times. Actually there’s a related question we’ve been asked a million times too,how long does it take to grow weed indoors? And like many questions the answer depends on many variables. But since the “how long does it take to grow weed” questions seem to keep coming endlessly—we thought we’d get an answer in writing and on video so we don’t have to continue to answer it. We can just point ‘em here.
How long it takes to grow weed depends on quite a few things. Instead of asking how long does it take to grow weed, ask yourself this. Are you growing weed hydroponically or growing weed organically in soil. Are you using something in between? Are you growing your marijuana from clone or seed? What are the genetics of the weed you are growing. Are you growing weed indoors or growing weed outdoors?
How long does it take to grow weed indoors?
So you want to know how long does it take to grow weed indoors? Well, if you are growing weed indoors, from seed to flower, to do it right you’ll need four to six months. Typically you will let your weed plants veg from seed for 30-45 days. Then once the marijuana plants are flowering you need to add to your calculations the flowering time of the particular weed plant you are growing. The time it takes to grow weed in the flowering cycle can be anywhere from another 45-90 days.
Many autoflower weed strains will finish in 60-72 days. That’s only 8-10 weeks from the time the cannabis seed germinates to harvest. If you are using clones of weed plants, the clones typically veg from 10 to 30 days, and again depending on the finishing or flowering time, of the particular weed variety you’re growing, you add that on to the vegging time.
The answer to that constant question of how long does it take to grow weed is not a simple one. But it’s easy enough to figure out if you include the factors we talked about above.Keep the questions and comments coming. Check our other videos for strain reviews and gardening tips.
