The How Weird Street Faire 2018 brings together the Bay Area’s cannabis and dance music community for a day of celebration in the heart of San Francisco. Now in it’s 19th year the How Weird Street Faire attracts more than 30k people and presents a zany mix of marijuana merch, music, art, dancing, dining, shopping – and of course weirdness. Last year the Faire successfully debuted its Green Alley completely dedicated to cannabis—and with recreational marijuana in full swing throughout California nowadays we expect that this section of the How Weird Street Faire to be completely awesome.
Along the How Weird Street Faire Green Alley not only will you find a curated selection of exhibitors including local cannabis growers, producers and dispensaries you’ll also find booths filled with unique pot products and services as well as staffed with leading non-profits. There’ll also be a dedicated stage featuring downtempo grooves and appearances by leaders in the cannabis industry. A Canna Education Center stocked with literature and educational displays will also be available.
The 2018 How Weird Street Faire is a project of the 501(c)3 educational non-profit World Peace Through Technology Organization. The mission of the How Weird Street Faire and the non-profit is to inspire a culture of peace through music, art, social innovation, media, and the benevolent uses of technology. Over the years the Faire has become a world-renowned music festival and like we said it brings in more than 30,000 attendees who enjoy 10 stages (and styles) of dance music. It’s truly one of the most diverse and talent-rich music festivals in the world. In fact the How Weird Street Faire features some of the best electronic music played on some of the world’s most advanced sound technology—plus each stage is created by a unique community and offers a distinctive aural style and overall vibe.
Along with a menagerie of attractions including an Art Alley filled with one-of-a-kind live and exhibited artwork as well as local craft vendors there’s also a Gourmet Zone offering wholesome and delicious food. And of course the wold-class How Weird Marketplace. There you’ll find plenty of vendors selling unique designer goods like clothing, jewelry, housewares, art, instruments, gadgets and more. Plus street performers and special exhibits add a feeling of spontaneity to the overall event.
The How Weird Street Faire happens in San Francisco’s downtown SoMa district, centered at Howard and 2nd Streets on May 6. The theme for 2018 is “The Disco Ball Inferno”, a parody of the 1970s, looking back at a time of high weirdness and shiny things. Each year the Faire takes on a new theme, which is embraced by the art and costumes of attendees. Hope to see you there.
